Getting Your Passport in 4 Easy Steps.
Ummmm excuse me. What do you mean you don't have a passport? Oh no, that won't do. There is no excuse. You need to get your passport and see the world. Gather round friends, let me tell you how simple it is.
First, what is a passport and who needs one?
A passport is a travel document, usually issued by the government that certifies the identity of an international traveler. Passports may contain information such as the holder's name, place and date of birth, photograph, signature, and other identifying information. In most cases, US citizens that would like to travel internationally will need to obtain a passport.
How do I obtain a passport?
There are just 4 steps to obtaining a passport.
1. Complete and print your application.
2. Submit documentation; most people use their birth certificate and driver’s license.
3. Obtain 2x2 photos. There are many photo guidelines, so we suggest heading to your local drug store or anywhere with a photo center to have your photos taken. The cost is usually under $10.00.
4. Bring your check/money order to a passport acceptance facility. The fee for most travelers is $145.00 and you can submit your passport application at many post offices.
Normal processing time for passports is 4 to 6 weeks; however, this timeframe may vary. If you have an upcoming trip, don’t risk your passport not arriving on time. Instead, opt for expedited delivery to avoid missing your trip.
And that’s it!
Once you’ve done that, sit back, relax, and await your passport. Once you get it in the mail, you are officially ready for international, life-changing travel.
So like I said, no excuses! Go and get that passport. Where will you go first?
